New Canaan Country School is committed to technology integration throughout the curriculum. At NCCS, technology provides our students with essential tools to problem solve, to think critically and to collaborate with others.  Teachers use technology in ways that expand our students’ global connections as they develop skills for the 21^st century.

Students in the Lower School have access to classroom computers that are used for a wide range of activities from research to writing, keyboarding to podcasting.  The Lower School also has a computer lab where formal technology classes begin in third grade and continue in fourth.  Formal technology classes are also offered in the Middle School at the fifth grade level.  By sixth grade, technology in incorporated into the daily classroom work.  NCCS provides students in the Middle and Upper School with laptops carts, classroom computers, and a computer media lab located in the Schlesinger Library.  Smartboards are mounted in every academic classroom.  

The NCCS faculty view technology as a transparent learning tool.   Faculty and staff have access to an array of technological tools including desktop and laptop computers, scanners, digital cameras, digital video cameras, professional software, integrated databases, etc.  NCCS also has a full time academic technology coordinator who works directly with teachers and students to develop projects and solve technical problems.  Additionally, the school has a knowledgeable technology staff who monitors the school’s technology infrastructure and are always available to offer technical assistance to students, teachers, administrators and staff.  The goal for everyone at NCCS is to use technology as a tool to enhance the learning process and to teach our students in compelling ways as we prepare them for higher levels of learning.
