I wanted to share our latest Lower School community project with you, as we will be carrying it out in these weeks before break. If you have been to LS assembly, you have likely noticed that we always open our gathering with important messaging of community. We talk overtly about what it means to be kind, how we can practice gratitude, and what it means to be our best selves.
This month, in the spirit of the season, I have been sharing a theme of thegift is in the givingwith the children. We have discussed that while getting presents can be fun and exciting, our true happiness and purpose comes when we give to others. We have specifically emphasized gifts from the heart.
At this morning’s assembly, faculty members shared gifts from the heart they have witnessed in our community, or received themselves. We shared moments such as: At lunch someone volunteered to clean extra tables; A third grader made a pillowcase for a Beginners student in sewing class; Students donated special toys to our LS toy drive; A student returned a friend’s lost teddy bear.
After sharing these in a round, we invited your children to find ways to give gifts from the heart to others, so they can experience the gift that comes from giving. In these weeks before break, we will ask your children to take note of the gifts from the heart they have witnessed and add them to a special board in Lower School. We invite you to do the same!
