Lower School Collects and Delivers Donations to Food Bank

In support of Country School’s ongoing relationship with the Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County, the Lower School held its annual spring food drive from May 8-17.  All four grades kicked off the drive with a hands on, age appropriate lesson, which focused on the importance of the Food Bank and how it serves our neighbors in need.
On Wednesday, May 17, 25 second and third grade NCCS students delivered bags of donated groceries to the Food Bank located in Stamford.  Upon arrival, the children unloaded and weighed the donated food, had a brief informational tour of the facility, sorted canned goods, and then stocked the shelves.

Although there are additional donations still to be picked up and delivered to the Food Bank before the drive ends on Friday, May 19, the amount of food weighed during the visit, came to an impressive 632 pounds.

The Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County is an agency which provides nutritious food to nonprofit organizations feeding the hungry in our community.
