New Canaan Country School to Commence Search for Next Head of School

On May 30, 2017, Head of School Dr. Robert P. Macrae and President of the Board of Trustees Steve Rodgers announced the school’s plans to begin a transition in leadership. A search will commence immediately for the next Head of School. Dr. Macrae will continue to serve as Head of School for the 2017-2018 school year.

“Dr. Macrae has contributed significantly to Country School during his time with us, and we appreciate his continued engagement and willingness to work with us on a smooth transition over the next year,” stated Mr. Rodgers in an announcement to the school community.

Longtime Country School parents and current members of the Board of Trustees Lynne Byrne and John Lancaster have been named as search committee co-chairs. The school will engage an executive search firm to facilitate the process.

“We are committed to Country School’s mission, and to building on the school’s culture, momentum and reputation for helping our students reach their intellectual, creative, moral and physical potential,” stated Mr. Rodgers.

New Canaan Country School recently celebrated its 100th anniversary and launched its next century with a successful 10-year reaccreditation receiving high accolades for its academic program, financial stewardship and commitment to its mission. In addition, the school recently adopted a long-range campus master plan and held an official ground-breaking ceremony for its new dining hall and commons last week.
