Three Students Win Spelling Bee

Three Country School students – ninth grader Aaron Watkins, eighth grader Mason Zea and fifth grader Daniel Marin –were named co-winners of the school’s 2018 Spelling Bee held Feb. 5
The annual event was comprised of students from the Middle and Upper Schools and moderated by fifth grade teacher Raphe Elkind and Upper School teacher Lauren Romeo. Twenty students were selected to participate for the final competition held in the auditorium. After several rounds of elimination, 8 students remained. Aaron, Mason and Daniel won the championship round correctly spelling the word – LOQUACIOUS. 

The following students qualified for the Spelling Bee:

6th: Elsa Franks, Julia Sliwinska, Maria Flores, Jeren Staber
7th: Amelia Lancaster, Mark Taubner, Parakram Karnik, Katie LeBaron
8th: Mason Zea, Paige Davis, Ellie Hanson, JB Barr, Seth Yoo
9th: Aaron Watkins, Emma Herdeg, Brian Villalta
