Victoria Manganiello ’04 Artist in Residence at NYC Gallery

Alumna Victoria Manganiello ’04, a contemporary textile artist and visual art professor based in New York City, will be the featured Artist in Residence at the Sara Kay Gallery located at 4 E. 42nd St. in Manhattan until March 15.
During workshops led by Victoria, participants will learn the basic principles of cloth weaving and have the opportunity to make and take home their own woven artwork.

Manganiello creates her paintings and installations by spinning, dying and weaving her own canvases, using materials including synthetic and natural dyes, cotton, silk and other mixed materials. Beyond her own art, Victoria also teaches at Parson’s New School and New York University, where she is an adjunct professor teaching classes such as “Textile Design Exploration” and “Fashion Textile Survey.” Victoria says she has “always enjoyed being a student, ever since Kindergarten with Mrs. Balasuriya,” and considers it “a dream to continue learning and inspiring critical thinking as a professor,” while also continuing her journey and evolution as an artist.

Victoria’s work has also been displayed in solo and group shows at The Java Project (Brooklyn, NY) the Queens Museum (NYC) and she recently completed another residency in Sofia, Bulgaria. She will also be participating in this year’s NCCS on-campus Alumni Art Show, which will open on Friday May 18 and run through early-June.
