Milestones

George Mills, former staff, 1999-2009

George Alfred Mills left this world on November 17, 2017, to be with his beloved, Frances. He was born July 31, 1941, in Norwalk, CT, son of the late Samuel and Celia (Ready) Mills. He lived in Norwalk for 30 years, living in Danbury the last 15 years. George attended local schools, earning his G.E.D. later in life.

He served in the army during the Vietnam War, heading up an Honest John missile unit in Germany. He worked many years as a mechanic and for the last 10 years of his working life before retirement, he was a custodian at a private children's school.

George was a very caring man who always had a shoulder you could lean on, an ear you could bend, a smile to uplift, and a hand to lend. He loved much and was much loved and he will be sorely missed.

In addition to his parents, George was predeceased by his wife Frances (Kruse) Mills. He is survived by his sisters Florence Schulte of Norwich and Marylou and her husband Daniel Stratton of Florida and brother Nicholas Mills of Norwalk; three stepdaughters, Donna Ferris of Danbury, Sandra Lowery of New Fairfield and Victoria Nolan of Maine; stepson Andreas (Chip) Kruse of Danbury; two grandchildren, two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
