Welcome to our New Senior Director of Advancement

Ryan Smith joined Country School as Senior Director of Advancement, on July 1. Ryan comes to NCCS with a proven track record of cultivating strong relationships, as well as achieving – and often exceeding – ambitious fundraising goals in a PreK-9 independent school environment.
Ryan has spent the last 13 years working as an independent school advancement professional, most recently as Director of Advancement at Rippowam Cisqua School in Bedford, NY. Ryan first joined RCS in 2012 as Director of Development and Communications and in the last seven years has led the school’s engagement and fundraising efforts, including annual and capital giving, with all constituents including parents, alumni, parents of alumni and grandparents. During his tenure, he and his team raised more money through the school’s capital campaign, annual fund and auction than at any previous time in the school’s history. He is adept at structuring and scaling a fundraising team and program to create a strong culture of philanthropy that supports growth and innovation.

Ryan previously served as Alumni Director at Collegiate School in New York City. He spent four years working at Morgan Stanley Investment Management earlier in his career. He holds a B.A. in English from University of Mary Washington.
