Lower School Shares Silver Linings

Meaghan Mallin, Head of Lower School
When Distance Learning began in Lower School, I gave my students an assignment: Have you ever heard the expression every cloud has a silver lining? It means that even during challenging situations, good things can come.  The fact that we cannot be at school together is certainly a cloud! Your job is to think about what the silver linings are of our school buildings being closed.
As I read through the nearly 200 silver linings that I had the good fortune to receive, your children offered such wisdom on what we can focus on as the bright spots of this time. Their silver linings were profound in their simplicity - time with family, riding bikes, family movie nights, time to play outside, not having to rush.  Our children are telling us something in this moment, and clearly enjoying all of this newfound family time. There is a clear message here ~ it does not need to be perfect to be meaningful.
