Upper School Students Win Recognition on World Language Exams

Country School students in the Upper School division (grades 7-9) made a strong showing in the recent 2020 national World Languages exams.
 In French, gold medals went to: eighth graders Tanvi Debnath of New Canaan and Ethan Yoo of Pound Ridge. Silver medals went to: seventh graders Sebastian Kelsey of Darien, Daniel Marin of Easton and Dario Sanon of Stamford, eighth graders Annie Nichols of New Canaan, Lola Triay of New Canaan, Maria Flores of Stamford and ninth grader Riya Punjabi of Stamford. Bronze medals went to: seventh grader Chris Santa of Norwalk, eight grader Mackie Coffield of Stamford and ninth grader Annika Mannix of Wilton.
 
On the national Latin exam, additional prizes were awarded to seventh graders Aoife Flanagan of Ridgefield, Ambika Nott, Kieran Mohindra-Green,and Sydney Young all of New Canaan, eighth graders Julia Cooper and Waverly Walters of New Canaan, Katey Charnin of Darien, and Elsa Franks and Izzy Goldberg of Stamford, and ninth grader Abby O’Brien also of Stamford.
 
National Spanish exam results are expected to be received and announced over the summer.
 
World Language Teacher Christiane Lundquist was pleased with the results, “Country School students did very well across the board. On behalf of the entire World Language department, I congratulate them all. These results are an affirmation of the student’s hard work and continuous improvement all year long.”
