Country School Opens the School Year with Flag Raising

New Canaan Country School, 635 students and 168 faculty and staff, came together around the flagpole to officially celebrate the start of the school year on Sept. 9.
As is the school’s tradition, one student from each division raised the flag along with Head of School Rob Macrae. This year’s students were: George West, Kindergarten, Mia Secko, Grade 3, Cole Nightingale, Grade 6 and Taylor Mitchell, Grade 9.

Dr. Macrae addressed the gathering, “It is truly a privilege to be a member of the Country School community.  So, today before we embark on this school year, I would like to take a moment to pause, reflect and to collectively be grateful for the blessings of an excellent education.”

He also welcomed 100 new students to campus, from 11 surrounding communities, a few have moved to the area from as far as Los Angeles and Beijing. The assembly concluded by the entire community singing the school song, “Fortune Favors the Bold.”
