If you are interested in Fall 2021 enrollment or beyond, please complete an inquiry form so that we may be back in touch early September with instructions about next steps; we are no longer accepting applications for this coming fall. New Canaan Country School welcomes applications for all grade levels (Beginners through Grade 9). We encourage you to begin the admission process and the information below will provide you with a general outline of our procedures. Step 1: Inquire

Please complete and submit our inquiry form, and we will send you a brochure and additional information about our school and the admission process. We are happy to answer any questions you may have either by phone (203) 801-5608 or by email (

Step 2: Parent Visit and Tour

During this time we will be conducting the parent interview, a required part of the admission process, virtually. We welcome this conversation at any time, either before or after you have submitted an application. We are also offering on-person campus parent tours by appointment should you wish to visit.

Step 3: Application

Applying to our Beginners program: Submit your application and complete all required steps in your NCCS Community Portal - click here to create your account to get started. If you are a current Country School family please use your current username to start your application. Our Beginners application is not available on the SAO.

Applicants to our Beginners 3/4 program must be at least 3 years old and toilet trained by Aug. 31 of their year of entry. Applicants to our Beginners 4/5 program must be at least 4 years old by Aug. 31 of their year of entry.

Applying to Kindergarten-Grade 9: Please proceed to the Standard Application Online (SAO) to submit your application and other application elements but be sure to monitor your progress here in your NCCS Community Portal. 

Applicants to our Kindergarten program must be at least 5 years old by Aug. 31 old of their year of entry.

As a member of the Fairchester Independent School Group, New Canaan Country School uses a Common Application known as the "SAO" (Standard Application Online). We recommend that you submit the Student Profile portion on SAO as soon as possible to begin the application process. After we receive notice that you have begun the application using the SAO, we will forward instructions to create your NCCS Applicant Portal through which you can track the status of your application, schedule appointments and register for events. Throughout the admission process, your NCCS Applicant Portal will reflect the most accurate status of your application progress.

Step 4: Standardized Testing (Grades 5-9 only)

During this time, we will not require applicants for Grades 5-9 to sit for a standardized test.

Step 5: Student Visit and Assessment 

We look forward to getting to know your child through the application process. During this time, we will contact you to schedule a remote student assessment and, for students applying to Grades 4-9, an interview. See the Applicant Portal for details that apply to you.

Step 6: Supporting Materials and Other Information

All other required materials including parent statement/evaluations, student essays, transcripts and recommendations are listed on SAO and on your NCCS Applicant Portal. We strongly encourage you to visit these portals frequently to manage your child’s admission process. Applying for Financial Aid

Applications for need-based financial aid assistance must be submitted via School and Student Services (SSS) simultaneously with the admission application and no later than the January 15 priority deadline. Applications received after January 15 will be considered on a funds-available basis. Contact the Admission Office for more information. READ MORE.
