Summer Reading 2023

Grade 4 Summer Reading

June 2023

Dear Parents/Guardians of Students Entering Fourth Grade,

Summer vacation is just around the corner, and it’s time to begin thinking about summer reading. As you know, your children have been doing quite a bit of independent reading.  In the coming school year, we will explore how stories can deepen our understanding of the world. In fourth grade there is an emphasis on social awareness and justice. We hope you will join us in reinforcing these important themes with your child.

As you help your child establish a summer reading routine, please keep in mind that the goal is to guide children to become successful, life-long readers. At least thirty minutes a day is ideal. Some families like to set aside time during which the whole family reads. Please continue to read aloud with your child. The faculty has compiled a list of recommended titles for summer reading. In addition, the NCCS website has links to award-winning books and other excellent sites that you might like to explore. Please see the sidebar.

Sincerely,

Shannon Faella, Kristin Quisgard & Maria Sette
