Thanks for making the trip out to Greenwich, everybody! Despite the result, it sure was fun to be able to play in "The Don."
NCCS knew they would have their hands full today, as GCDS had proven themselves a skilled opponent during their early season matchup. However, in the first half, NCCS rose to the occasion, playing some of their best basketball of the season against their aggressive 2-3 zone trap. The passing was on point, and this led to some good looks at the hoop. Center Chase Bell got the scoring going off a putback layup early, but GCDS raced out to the lead behind a relentless offensive fast break. In the second quarter, Hudson "Eight Ball" Sonesson played tough down low, putting up six points in the quarter.
Only down eight at the break, NCCS entered the second half with confidence and hope, but the Tigers came out swinging. Once the Cougar defense started to tire out, GCDS's shots started to fall. When it rains, it pours...
Wing Dylan Svenson kept the Cougars in the competition during the second half with some excellent shooting and tough rebounding, but it wasn't enough to stymie the boys in Orange and Black. Final score GCDS 52, NCCS 21.
One more game this season! See you on Monday at 3:30 in Ridgefield!
