Country School Girls Place 2nd in Basketball Tournament

The New Canaan Country School girls’ basketball team earned second place honors at an invitational tournament held Jan. 20 at Greenwich Country Day School. The seventh, eighth and ninth grade NCCS girls played a total of five games, winning four.

“With only seven girls on our squad, our team was significantly out-numbered in each contest, however their hustle, heart and determination throughout was absolutely unmatched,” said Head Coach Chantal Angelis.

Game results included a win over Greenwich Country Day School (19-15), a loss to The Rectory School (8-28), a win over Greenwich High School's freshman team (16-10), a win over Rumsey Hall (16-13) and a win versus The Green Vale School (22-6).

Members of the New Canaan Country School girls’ varsity basketball team include: seventh grader Sofie Petricone of Rowayton; eighth graders Paige Davis of New Canaan, Menna Delva of Norwalk and Sydney Osinloye of Norwalk; and ninth graders Anna Hernandez of Stamford, Jennifer Llamas of Norwalk and Audrey Magnusen of Norwalk. Country School Apprentice Teacher and Coach, Karina Olsen, assisted Coach Angelis.
