Police Officer with NCCS Ties Receives New Canaan's Officer of the Year Award

NCCS is pleased to congratulate New Canaan Police Officer Kelly Coughlin who was named the 2021 Stephen W. Wood Officer of the Year in recognition of her exceptional work, integrity, and overall service. Officer Coughlin works as the school liaison officer for the New Canaan Country School in addition to overseeing numerous community outreach programs in her role as the department’s Community Impact Officer (CIO).

“Officer Coughlin gives 100 percent in every situation, and treats every call and investigation with equal enthusiasm and effort,” said Chief of Police Leon Krolikowski, who presided over the ceremony, held this week.

"Kelly has been such a wonderful partner and friend,” said New Canaan Country School’s Director of Safety and Security Josh Ziac. “More importantly, the kids love Officer Kelly. She is their local celebrity! We love having her come to campus and spend time with our children. As a law enforcement partner, she has been a steadfast guide and advisor.”

Officer Coughlin joined the New Canaan Police force in 2015 and was promoted to CIO in 2021.

“Officer Coughlin exhibits a high skill level in all facets of her job and she is highly motivated,” Krolikowski said. “We are very fortunate to have her on our team. She is an asset to our department and the New Canaan community.”
