It was a messy one out there today, folks, but you can't say it wasn't exciting! In the end, St. Luke's was able to make just enough shots down the stretch to walk away victorious. Losing always stings, but the Cougars have already circled their calendars for the St. Luke's rematch (Feb 11) later this season.
Both defenses today were locking down, and the result, much to the chagrin of coaches on each side, was turnovers, turnovers, turnovers. With the aggressive defense and all the turnovers, points were at an absolute premium. On that end, the Cougars were led with four points apiece from Matt Visokey and Hudson Sonesson. The difference, in the end, came down to rebounding. St. Luke's aggressively crashed the boards, and despite the best efforts of Palmer "The One Man Rebounding Crew" Bowen, the Lukies were just able to get more second chance buckets and prevent the same on the other side of the ball. 21-16 final score.
We've got some work to do at practice this week! Thanks to you all for coming out - see you next week (Tuesday vs. GCDS in the Athletic Center @3:30).
