Wilton Outshoots NCCS to Split Season Series

Sean Robb
Wilton Montessori edged out the JV2 Boys' Basketball team in a contest that surpassed the first match-up between to the two squads for lowest point-total of the season.
In a game where baskets were even harder to come by than the initial battle between the two squads, Montessori sunk some impressive runners in the lane and fade-aways while the Cougars normally reliable mid-range game just never got going. After tallying six three-pointers in their overtime victory two weeks before, this time NCCS could only manage nine field goals and two free-throws total, as good looks from the field just would not fall. The effort from every player was there, rebounding hard, playing hard, impressive defense, and outplaying the visitors in transition. But an early seven-point lead, which Montessori brought into the third quarter, turned out to be enough in this exciting game. The Cougars cut the lead to two with patient defense and offense, but never were able to tie it up, and a two-bucket lead in the final minute was enough for Wilton to split the season series with NCCS.
