Former NBA Player John Amaechi To Visit Campus

John Amaechi OBE, New York Times best-selling author, psychologist, executive coach, social entrepreneur, Officer of the Order of British Empire and former professional basketball player will spend three days at New Canaan Country School talking with students, teachers and parents about inclusion, character and performance starting Wednesday, Jan. 7.
John Amaechi is an expert in organizational culture and change as well as inclusive leadership. He has worked with independent school institutions and public school boards in Europe North America including The Taft School, Philips Exeter Academy, the Chicago Public School District and Queen Ethelburga’s in York. Amaechi has an extensive corporate client base including Merrill Lynch, Bank of America, EY, the National Education Association and is a member of KPMG’s Inclusive Leadership Board.
 
Amaechi was born in Boston, Mass., and grew up in Manchester, England. He returned to the U.S. in his late teens to fulfill his dream to play in the NBA. Amaechi will speak with the Country School community about the holistic power and impact of an inclusive educational environment and how Country School can best prepare students for the challenges of globalization.
