What are you doing now and how did your experience at Country School shape your path?
I have two businesses I’m involved in – transportation and real estate development. I’m President and CEO of Mo Vaughn Transport based in Ohio, and I’m also a Managing Director at Omni New York LLC , a redevelopment company that focuses on revitalizing and developing New York city neighborhood by partnering with local communities. My experiences at Country School helped me with meeting and interacting with people from diverse backgrounds, and to generally become a better-rounded contributor to society. These experiences have been helpful both professionally and personally.
How does your work today relate to Country School’s mission of inspiring students “…to be lifelong learners with the courage and confidence to make a positive contribution to the world?”
One of my most rewarding accomplishments is the work we do at Omni New York LLC. When we take over a distressed property, we improve the quality of life for our tenants by renovating and rehabilitating the place they call home. We update their kitchens and bathrooms, their common areas like their lobbies and laundry and community rooms. We also help to make their environments safer by installing state-of-the-art cameras and security systems. The work we do at Omni has been a great catalyst in my efforts to continually give back and make a positive contribution to the world.
What are some of your favorite Country School moments? Playing drums in the Ragtime Band; playing football, baseball and basketball; starting varsity as a freshman.
What Country School teachers influenced and inspired you? Athletic Director John Whitlock
What advice would you give to current Country School students?
I would advise current Country School students to remain open-minded – it’s a big world out there. Versatility and being able to interact with people from all walks of life is invaluable. Be active in your communities. And finally, do all you can to stay committed to your education.
