Fast Start Sends Cougars Past Crusaders

The Boys JV1 squad came out firing on all cylinders yesterday at FCDS.  The Cougars scored early on a through ball to Finley Bean who put it away just out of the goalkeeper’s reach.  Charlie Tait added 2 goals of his own in the first half and set up Finley once more on a beautiful cross into the box. NCCS dodged a bullet in the first half, when FCDS was awarded a free kick just outside the Cougar’s box.  With a wall set up and keeper Teddy ready, the ball was struck high and wide, missing the goal by a few feet. Winston Lane contributed on the defensive end, using his speed and stamina to squash any offensive threat attempted by FCDS. Dylan Koo and Alex Hackett did their part to keep the shut out intact, chasing down through passes and using their size advantage to win the majority of 50/50 balls in the defensive end. Teddy Schoenholtz saved every shot taken on goal, recording his first clean sheet of the season. Charlie Tait finished with a hat trick, striking a ball to the top corner of the net in the last 15 minutes of the game.  Grady Norton finished with 2 assists, creating scoring opportunities throughout the match for his teammates.  The Cougars played as a unit and each player did their part to come out victorious. The JV1 team will look to continue their undefeated streak next week with games against Ripowam Cisqua and Greenwich Catholic on Monday and Thursday.
