  • Admission Ambassadors

    Admission Ambassadors help the school achieve its enrollment goals by providing positive, accurate information about NCCS. They work with the NCCS Admission Team on a range of activities that could include: connecting with prospective families throughout the admission process including admission events, community outreach (including social media), hosting an event, or joining an internal advisory/focus group to provide Admission with insight into an opportunity area. Admission Ambassadors have a passion for NCCS, a strong desire to advance the school, connections within their community and credibility among their peers.
  • Annual Meeting

    The 2018 Annual Meeting will be held Thursday, Sept. 13, 6:30-8:30 p.m. The Parents' Association Committee Chairs design and execute the table decorations and child-inspired centerpieces that reflect children/grade or division. 

  • Auction (Biennial)

    The Auction Committee plans a spring event, which takes place every other year that will serve as both a celebration of Country School and a fundraising event. Three chairs will lead the planning efforts, supported by several volunteer sub-committees (each managed by a committee chair or chairs), NCCS administrators (Accounting, Finance, Advancement, etc.), and with the guidance of the PA President and the Head of School. Planning begins in the early fall, with the event executed in late Spring.
  • Campus Beautification

    The Campus Beautification Committee's goal is to help enhance the natural beauty of the school's campus by tending to various garden beds; designing, planting and maintaining entry way pots; decorating for the holidays; and organizing an annual student based gardening event.  Working in partnership with the NCCS Facilities Team, the committee may also help propose ideas about garden maintenance, seasonal plantings and landscape design.

  • Class Representatives

    Class Reps act as parent liaisons and help build community for each classroom. They support the classroom teachers (helping coordinate field trip chaperones, snacks sign ups, party supplies, etc), as well as organize and attend community-building events throughout the year (fall parent gathering, winter/spring coffee or other social event).  They also plan the NCCS designated year-end class celebration, and “Child Inspired” teacher’s gifts.

  • Community Service

    The focus of Country School's Community Service program is to teach social responsibility and to inspire and empower our children to make a positive contribution to the world while they are students at NCCS and throughout their lives. We provide age-appropriate opportunities for students to engage in projects that not only help others but also nurture self-confidence, independence and the skills that will enable them to be effective leaders and contributors after they graduate. 

  • Deal Days (Biennial)

    Deal Days is a tag sale held on campus in April every other year, and is a wonderful community-building event for Country School. There is also a strong outreach aspect to this tag sale, as local neighbors flock to NCCS for bargainns. Unsold items go to various local outreach organizations. 

  • Deal Days - Family Fun Night (Biennial)

    Family Fun Night, which takes place on the eve of Deal Days, is a casual gathering where school families come to “Preview” the tag sale, have a light supper and support the event. Many shift volunteers are needed the week of Deal Days, which is one of the ways it brings our community together. 
  • Festival of Books

    The Festival of Books is both a fundraising and community-building event which occurs in the late fall. Three chairs and three vice chairs will lead the planning efforts, supported by sub committees and additional volunteers. Many shift volunteers are needed the week of the event. Planning begins in the early fall and time commitment is heaviest during the week of the book fair. The Festival of Books committee also hosts PJ’s & Pizza, a literacy event co-sponsored with Horizons Friends Corps, on the Wednesday evening of that week.
     
  • Frogtown Fair

    The Frogtown Fair is a spring community-building event consisting of old-fashioned fun and games, as well as food and drinks. It is a low key, casual, family-oriented event in which both Country School and Horizons families participate. 

  • Greenery

    This fundraiser offers seasonal items for holiday decorating. The chairs and vice chairs will work with local wholesalers to source products, create sales materials and organize purchase and pickup of goods. Planning begins in the fall and is heaviest during the week of greenery orders (mid-November) and pickup (early December).

  • Fall Fest & 5K

    Fall Fest is a day to celebrate school spirit. All Country School families are invited to campus tp run or walk in the 5k, and participate in the “Catch the Cougar” fun-run. Logo sales and bouncy castles are traditional Fall Fest highlights. The Parents’ Association supports this event by recruiting volunteers and scheduling and coordinating the day’s activities. Planning begins in late Spring.

  • Host Family Program

    Hosts serve on behalf of the PA as a welcoming parent as well as a resource of information to new parents.  Hosts attend a number of casual gatherings designed to welcome new families to NCCS.  Additionally, over the Summer months, Hosts reach out to their assigned new families to welcome them to Country School, and provide essential Country School information (general school info, dress code, key dates & info, calendar review and the “ins & outs” of Country School community). Hosts check in/connect with and also attend key school events with their new families throughout the year.

  • Kyle A. Markes Day of Service

    In memory of Country School student and friend, Kyle A. Markes, this family day of service offers off-campus opportunities for our community to engage in hands-on projects supporting organizations in Fairfield County. Projects are age-appropriate and both on and off campus. Parents can choose the activity that works for their family.

  • Logo - School Store

    Logo is a fundraising committee that offers the opportunity to promote school spirit on our campus and in our surrounding communities. The School Store, located in Grace House, has regular store hours and in addition, table sales are held at Country School events throughout the year. On this committee, you will have the opportunity to volunteer with friends - old and new, design and order merchandise, inventory and display logo items, sell merchandise and promote our NCCS school spirit.

  • Nominating/Appointments

    The Nominating/Appointments Committee is responsible for filling PA Executive Committee positions (Nominating) and all PA Committee Chair/Vice Chair positions (Appointments) for the following year.

  • Teacher Appreciation Day

    The Teacher Appreciation Day committee plans this important spring day when we express our thanks to our wonderful teachers. The event features the 9th graders helping to kick off the day, and also includes coordination of a bouquet of flowers (collected by the children), baked goods donations for the teachers, and parent volunteers to relieve teachers of lunch and recess duty.  

  • Upper School Dinners

    The Upper School dinners are a school tradition held in the spring for all seventh, eighth and ninth grade boys and girls and one of their parents. These evenings honor the ninth grade boys and girls and strengthen the relationships among Upper School students and parents. Two chairs will oversee planning, management and execution of each of these events. Planning begins in the fall and time commitment is heaviest leading up to the April/May events.

Resource Groups

  • Allergy Resource Group

    The Allergy Resource Group seeks to connect parents of children with severe allergies to each other as a supportive network, and also to the broader NCCS community to help raise awareness and educate our community on issues surrounding allergies.
  • Global Citizens Resource Group

    Global Citizens focuses on creating an engaged community of NCCS parents who have international interests and/or backgrounds. The group organizes events that will build connections for parents and their children to the broader global community.
  • Moms at Work Resource Group

    The Moms at Work group aims to foster a stronger sense of community within Country School for working mothers by providing them with more opportunities to connect with other mothers, creating an open and supportive environment, and sharing knowledge and skills of working mothers with the greater Country School community. Chairs plan occasional evening meetings for working mothers throughout the year.
  • Parents of Students of Color Resource Group

    The Parents of Students of Color Resource Group is a committee comprised of parents of children of color who wish to connect with each other to share common experiences as a supportive network, as well as build connections for themselves and their children to the broader NCCS community.
