Country School Announces 2025 Alumni Award Honoree: Jonathan Isham Jr. ’75

The New Canaan Country School Alumni Council is thrilled to announce that Jonathan Isham, Ph.D. ’75 has been named the recipient of the 2025 Alumni Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to education, sustainability, and social impact.
 
 
As a distinguished professor of Economics and Environmental Studies at Middlebury College, Dr. Isham has dedicated his career to fostering leadership in climate action and social change. Through his teaching, research, and advocacy, he has empowered countless students and global leaders to tackle the world’s most pressing challenges. His work spans key areas such as environmental policy, social entrepreneurship, and community engagement, shaping the next generation of changemakers. Dr. Isham, the son of Jon and Libby Isham and brother of Peggy Isham '71 and Beth Isham Nichols '73, is originally from New Canaan. He and his wife Tracy Himmel Isham live in Cornwall, VT, where they raised their three children, Faith, Katie, and LilyBob.
 
This honor is particularly special as Dr. Isham celebrates his 50th Reunion with the Country School Class of 1975. His lifelong commitment to meaningful change exemplifies the values instilled at NCCS—curiosity, courage, and a dedication to making a difference.
