Barry Levinson & Bob Schieffer Inspire Horizons Supporters

On Tuesday, May 15 over 150 guests entered the New Canaan Country School auditorium to the smell of movie theater popcorn and the soundtrack from Levinson’s The Natural playing. The crowd assembled to support Horizons and hear stories from two legends and current NCCS grandparents: Academy Award winner, Barry Levinson and Emmy Award winner, Bob Schieffer.
Horizons Executive Director, Nancy von Euler kicked off the night by introducing Horizons parent, Alisha Price, who shared her story of how Horizons has shaped the path of her daughter, Adiah.  Adiah, who has been a Horizons student since Kindergarten, was the recipient of the George E. Stevens Horizons Scholarship to attend St. Luke’s School through her high school years and will be attending Harvard University in the fall!  Adiah joined her mom on stage as Levinson and Schieffer presented her with an autographed Harvard insignia water bottle and wished her well.

The dynamic duo charmed the crowd with their unscripted conversation covering topics ranging from the inspiration for Levinson’s films to Schieffer’s early years working as a reporter, including covering the Kennedy assassination.  Twenty VIP guests continued the discussion over an intimate dinner with Levinson and Schieffer and their wives, Diana and Pat.  Elm Street Books was on-site to sell autographed copies of Schieffer’s recent book: Overload: Finding the Truth in Today’s Deluge of News at the event as well.  The proceeds from the event will go directly to support student programs.
