Grade 3 Summer Reading

Dear Families of Students Entering Third Grade,
Summer vacation is just around the corner and it’s time to begin thinking about summer reading. This summer the third grade teachers encourage each child to read at least four “within reach” books. Children should record the title and author of all the books read on the attached reading log and submit the log to their third grade teacher when they return to school.
The faculty has compiled a list of recommended titles for summer reading. There are links to award-winning books and other excellent sites that you might like to explore. Please see the sidebar.
As you help your child to establish a summer reading routine, please keep in mind that our goal is to help children to become successful life-long readers. All of us are firm believers that children’s reading skills improve through independent practice and through read aloud. Thank you for participating in our summer reading program and have a delightful summer of reading with your child.
