Cougar Buzzer Beater Falls Inches Short

In what was their closest game of the season, NCCS lost to GCDS in a back and forth game by a score of 22-19. In the first quarter, GCDS played a tough 1-3-1 zone to create turnovers and easy baskets for them to jump out to a lead. After talking it through and focusing on ball movement, the turnovers went down and the team did a great job of finding the cracks in the defense to bring the game back to a tie. The second quarter, saw the lead exchange back and forth, but GCDS was able to take a 2 point halftime lead after capitalizing on a inbound play with time winding down.

The third quarter saw both teams play some good defense, unfortunately, the offense for both teams were not very good and led to a scoreless quarter and kepy the score at 17-15. With time winding down, the Cougars trailed by one and had to foul GCDS to make them shoot free throws. Their players sunk both shots and put us in a tight situation. After drawing up a full court play, the team executed the play to perfection with a clean look at the basket to try and send the game into overtime...but it was just a couple inches short of banking in for the tie.

We are seeing drastic improvement from game to game with this team. The teamwork and skillset of each player is improving and we know we are going to end up on the winning side soon. Luckily, we will get the chance for revenge against GCDS in the season finale!
