Cougars Weather the Storm

In the latest installment of the high intensity crosstown rivalry, the NCCS JV Cougars defeated St. Lukes 30-23 in another hard fought matchup. The Cougars got off to a roaring lead in the first quarter behind some excellent pick and role play and terrific help defense. This was spearheaded by point guard Charlie Franz, who returned to the court today with his "gentleman baller" outfit and all. He was a highly efficient, strategic floor general for the Cougs. However, St. Lukes came rumbling back in the second quarter to bring themselves to only a one point deficit. With two minutes to play in the final quarter, the Cougars held just a four point lead and possession at halfcourt; then, in one of their finest moments of the season, the boys iced the game with perfect execution of "Bob" to get two more buffer points. With some more stifling defense down the stretch and a handful of important rebounds from Nathan "The Human Rebound" Roth (16 on the day), the Cougars pulled off the win.

Next week we travel to Brunswick for a 3:30 game. We hope to see you all there!
