A Tribute to Aren Craft '15

Dear NCCS Community

Aren Charles Craft ’15 was born on January 2, 2000 in Norwalk Hospital. Even at a young age, those who knew Aren knew him for his outgoing personality and amazing spirit.

Aren was an independent soul who always marched to the beat of his own drum. He was articulate, thoughtful, and always had something witty to say when you didn’t have the time to think of a creative comeback. He knew what to do, where to go, and how to make the familiar feel fresh. Aren kept life interesting and unique.

Aren attended NCCS until eighth grade, where he let both his intellect and outgoing nature shine. He made an effort to spend time with everyone, and treated both the most outgoing and the most shy with equal warmth and respect. He was a rare soul, the type who always made you feel comfortable in uncomfortable situations, and someone you could rely on to ground you with honesty and laughter. The NCCS Class of 2015 had the pleasure of growing up with Aren and being blessed with his presence that left a lasting impact on the class and greater NCCS community.

As we seek ways to continue honoring Aren’s legacy, we wanted to identify a space on the Country School campus that represented his unique nature best. A space that invites both an honest open conversation - and a good, heartfelt laugh. We believe that Stevens Terrace represents the tranquility and openness that Aren brought to our community and will continue to nurture this in NCCS students and faculty who gather here for years to come.

Contributing to this fund not only supports suicide prevention and awareness but also provides you the opportunity to know you participated in creating a space for children and adults alike to connect, laugh, and be their honest selves all while feeling safe and included - all an essential part of life.

We thank you for your time and consideration, and we can’t wait to share more stories about the laughs we had with Aren. We are forever grateful for the positive impact that he had on the members of the Class of 2015 and the wider NCCS community. We hope that you will join us in continuing that legacy.

Sincerely,

The Stevens Terrace Gift Committee

Stevens Terrace: A Gathering Space for Upper School Students

At New Canaan Country School, we believe that students thrive when they are given time and space to move, connect, and recharge. Just as our youngest learners benefit from daily playground access, our oldest students need unstructured outdoor time that supports independence, social connection, and well-being.
