A Place to Love Being Active

The Athletics & Wellness Center, opened in 2020, allows Country School athletes to compete in a variety of different sports, developing a lifelong enjoyment of physical activity and a healthy attitude toward athletic competition. It features four squash courts, a two-court gymnasium for basketball and volleyball that can be divided to allow for four practice courts as well as multipurpose spaces for health and wellness programs, updated faculty and student locker rooms, and retractable bleachers for spectator seating. Additional athletic facilities on campus include a second gymnasium, an outdoor hockey rink, outdoor swimming pool, wooded trails and ropes course, and plentiful field space.

In addition to sports, the center seats the entire school community, providing a bright and open space for community events such as the Annual Meeting & Dinner, PA’s Deal Days, and academic events such as the fifth grade Medieval Faire.

Kindergarten and Lower School

Lower School students especially use the gym to learn gross and fine-motor skills, collaborative skills, coordination, visual and spatial awareness, cardiovascular fitness, self-confidence, and “knowing your body.” As they grow, students participate in field hockey, soccer, flag football, basketball, volleyball, badminton, handball, pickleball, Project Adventure®, baseball/softball, lacrosse, fitness, ultimate Frisbee and track and field.

Middle School

For students in Grades 5 through 6, this is a place to learn to be part of a team, and practice the fundamentals of specific sports. Students select a sport each of the three seasons, participating in both intramural and interscholastic competition.

Upper School

Our facilities give Upper School students a chance to prepare for interscholastic competition in the Fairchester League of area independent schools. In the Upper School, students are placed on ability-based teams through tryouts giving every student a chance to experience success and growth as an athlete. Our athletes are well prepared for high school athletics.
