Grandparents and Special Friends Day

Grandparents and Special Friends are invited to join us for this very special Country School tradition. Enjoy a day in the life of your Country School student
Important Note: This event is JUST for our Grandparents and Special Friends (adults only). Parents are invited to volunteer via the PA. 



Schedule of Events

 8 - 8:45 a.m. All Grandparents & Special Friends
Arrive & Check-in at Grace House (name tags and schedules to be distributed)
 9 - 9:15 a.m. Remarks from Head of School Aaron Cooper, Grace House Carver Dining Hall
 9:15 - 9:30 a.m. All Grandparents & Special Friends begin to follow grandchild(ren)'s schedule 

Special Divisional Gatherings:

9:30 - 10:00 a.m.  Grades 1-4
 Lower School Assembly
 Grace House Auditorium
11:15 - 11:45 a.m. Beginners 3/4 - Kindergarten
Early Childhood Gathering
Thacher Grove (Rain location: Thacher Building -   Motor Room)
12:15 p.m. School Dismissal (12 p.m. Beginners Dismissal)

Refreshments will be available during the morning in the Carver Dining Hall in Grace House.

Parents may participate as volunteers and will play a critical role in welcoming and directing our guests on campus. Please sign up to volunteer. Thank you for your support!

Logo Store: Stop by our logo store located in Grace House to find all kinds of fun NCCS items for you and your grandchildren/special friends! Store Hours: 8 a.m.-12:15 p.m.

Planning Your Visit

Class Schedules:
Schedules for Early Childhood, Lower School, and Middle School students will be emailed to parents and guardians in advance. Upper School schedules will be sent home with students in their backpacks. Printed schedules will also be available at check-in.

Parking & Accessibility:

Upon arrival, grandparents and special friends will be directed to designated parking areas. A limited number of handicapped parking spaces are available in front of Grace House and the Thacher Building. If you need assistance while on campus, golf cart transportation will be available. Ask a divisional assistant to radio our Facilities team.  

Arrival & Check-In:
Please plan to arrive between 8:00 and 8:45 a.m. and proceed directly to Grace House. If you prefer to first drop off your grandchild or special friend at their classroom, you may do so before checking in.
At Grace House, you will:
  • Check in by student last name and receive a name tag
  • Pick up your grandchild(ren)’s schedule
    (Families with multiple grandchildren will receive a packet including each student’s schedule)
Light refreshments will be available in the Susan Haigh Carver ’51 Dining Hall, followed by a welcome presentation from Head of School Aaron Cooper and student performers. The presentation will conclude around 9:15 a.m., after which guests will follow their grandchild(ren)’s schedules for the remainder of the morning.

Parents’ Association volunteers will be available throughout campus to help with directions and questions. We recommend comfortable footwear for the day!
