Extended Day & Wednesday Extended Day
Extended Day is an optional child care program for students in Beginners through Grade 4. Families choose Extended Day for many reasons, including coverage for work, class schedules or additional social playtime for their child. Extended Day creates a close neighborhood-like community with an emphasis on imaginative play along with outdoor time, sports, board games and art experiences.
Extended Day 2013-14: For Beginners through Grade 4
The 2013-14 Extended Day schedule is divided into two meeting times that are held in the Thacher Building. Extended Day begins Friday, Sept. 6, 2013.
EXTENDED DAY I: 2:50 – 4:10 p.m. Bus transportation available
NEW OPTION: EXTENDED DAY II: 4:10– 5:30 p.m. pickup only.
Snacks are provided.
There is no Extended Day on Friday half days; your school calendar will help you plan ahead for child care on those days.
Extended Day Wednesday for Beginners through Grade 4.
Every Wednesday, students are dismissed at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday Extended Day offers child care from dismissal until 5:30 p.m., in the Thacher Building. There is no bus service and pickup is required. Extended Day Wednesday begins Sept. 11, 2013.
Children bring their own lunch. The afternoon begins with the children and teachers eating together followed by a quiet choice time. Rest time is scheduled for Beginners and Kindergarteners. Students spend the remaining portion of the day involved in project work and enjoying outdoor time. Snacks are provided for later in the afternoon. A quiet space for homework is available for the older children.

Billing will occur on a trimester basis.

Policies
- Your child will be automatically re-enrolled in Extended Day each trimester unless you notify us otherwise.
- Students may enroll mid-trimester as space allows.
- Your child will not be released to anyone other than the person(s) you designate without written permission. A photo ID will be required. For the safety of the children, this policy is strictly enforced.
- If an emergency occurs and you are not able to pick your child up on time, please call the Afterschool Program office at 203-801-5890 or email Program Director Kathy Kravec directly.
- In the event of an emergency, Extended Day coverage is available to any student through Grade 4 for an additional fee. Contact Jody Sheldon at jsheldon@countryschool.net or 203-801-5620.
