Simple Cougars Earn First Victory

Stefan Borowski
NCCS took on Eagle-Hill Greenwich and earned their first victory of the year, winning by a score of 8-3. In the first quarter, NCCS started slowly and weren't playing their best lacrosse. Instead of moving the ball, they tried to run through players and it led to a number of turnovers. Fortunately, the game was only 2-2 and the boys knew their play was going to get better.

From the second quarter on, the boys were much more aggressive in the shot department, as they were able to move the ball around and find the skip pass up top for shots that would find the net. There were also a number of unselfish plays as well, which made their brand of lacrosse much more fun to watch. Goal scorers included, Justus Armstead, Sam Ives, Hunter Essex, Tyler Galante, James Hudson, and Owen Collins. Cam Lawrence managed to lead the way and dish out two assists. Defensively, the boys were much improved on their slides and GB's with Dylan Koo, Jon Jean-Louis and Charlie von Stade holding down the fort in front of Des Pratt who provided another strong game.

The Cougars have one game remaining on their schedule and it is against their first opponent of the season, Windward on Tuesday 5/24 @ 3:45. It should be an exciting game and the boys know they have improved immensely over the season and will put it all on display in the last game.
