Cougars' Hurlers Stifle GFA

Tobey Rosen
The NCCS Middle School White Baseball Team pitched a shutout on Monday afternoon to defeat Greens Farms Academy 3-0. The Cougars got the scoring started in the top half of the first with a couple of walks and a clutch two-out two-run single to right by Ben Balsley. Huett Nelson got the starting nod on the mound and worked two hitless innings. Nelson's arm wasn't the only thing he had working -- he helped himself out by gloving two rockets hit back to the mound. Lorny Goodyear fought off a couple of tough pitches in a seven-pitch battle en route to a walk in the top half of the second that helped produce the Cougars third run of the afternoon. John Bajaj came in for the final inning and closed out the game by striking out the side. That's three wins in a row now -- a winning streak -- for the red-hot Cougars.
