Cougars Play with "Heart..."

C. Badan
The 7th Grade Girls' Lacrosse Team played their most exciting game of the season away at Sacred Heart which ended in a 9-6 victory for the Cougars! From the first whistle, the tone was set and three goals were scored during the first few minutes of play - all scored by Sacred Heart. Not being discouraged, NCCS adjusted to playing on turf, used precise passes, went for ground balls, and played tight defense throughout the first half, which earned the Cougars at least 18 shots on goal. Unfortunately, NCCS could only convert a few of these and we found ourselves down 3-4 at the half. During the second part of the game, Sacred Heart applied pressure by quickly completing passes in the midfield and then running the ball to goal. NCCS became relentless in their tight defense which created numerous turnovers. This strategy, along with being patient and careful with passing and shooting, saw results and the Cougars were able to score 5 goals within 10 minutes. NCCS continued to maintain control by using beautiful transition skills and playing even tighter defense. Our shots on goal were not forced and used both power and placement, putting us up 9-6 at the finish. Kudos to Goalie Pippa  and thanks to Alice and Amalia who joined us for today's contest, making significant contributions on attack. Congratulations on a fantastic game!! We are looking forward to our next challenge - away at RCDS - this thursday at 3:30 PM.
Let's keep up the good work, Cougars!!
