Teaching at New Canaan Country School is an exciting and rewarding experience. More than 120 full-time, part-time, and apprentice teachers, and a supportive staff work with bright, motivated students and supportive parents on a spacious campus. We seek talented, experienced professionals who know how to blend traditional and progressive methods and share a deep respect for childhood and developmental philosophy. We are committed to ensuring that our faculty and staff is a diverse group, representing a variety of backgrounds and life and career stages. While state certification is not required, teachers must have a four-year degree. We offer a highly competitive salary and benefits package, generous professional development support, a limited amount of faculty housing and a limited amount of tuition remission for children of faculty and staff.

    New Canaan Country School, a co-ed, independent day school for approximately 600 students in Pre-K (ages 3 & 4) through Grade 9 that aims to form the foundation for happy and healthy adults who make a positive contribution to the world, seeks a Director of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion. The Director of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion works closely with the academic leaders of the school and oversees programming, delivers professional development and collaborates on curriculum.   • Director of Studies

    New Canaan Country School, a co-ed, independent day school for approximately 600 students in Pre-K (ages 3 & 4) through Grade 9 that aims to form the foundation for happy and healthy adults who make a positive contribution to the world, seeks a Director of Studies. The Director of Studies serves as an academic leader of the school, working in concert with division heads and department chairs. The Director of Studies oversees the academic curriculum of the school, championing the philosophy and mission of the school and driving programs that ensure the continuing leadership of the school in the region and in the larger context of pre-K through 9 schools. The Director of Studies reports directly to the Head of School and is a member of the senior leadership team.

    Attitude: A professional demeanor; infectious enthusiasm for the position and the School; ability to adapt and willingness to accept change in a fast-paced environment.
    Dependability: Self-motivated; completely reliable in attendance and punctuality; ability to complete tasks and meet deadlines.
    Job Knowledge: 3-5 years of experience working in a fast-paced front office or customer service environment; reliable judgment necessary to carry out responsibilities with complete confidentiality; strong technical skills with computer hardware and software in an office setting (Google apps, Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)
    Communication: Ability to communicate well with parents/faculty/staff/students and the broader community is essential. Warm, polite phone manner is mandatory.
    Judgment: All decisions and actions must embrace understanding of the school's mission and culture.
    Teamwork: Ability to relate to co-workers and other constituents in a positive, cooperative manner; support for school policies and procedures; willingness to accept additional responsibility.

  • Assistant Boys’ Basketball Coach - 7th-9th grades

    New Canaan Country School is seeking an assistant basketball coach for our seventh/eighth grade program during the 2018-19 school year. . It is an interscholastic sport, playing against other Fairchester League peer schools. Practices are 2:50-4:00 pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday. Games fall primarily on Tuesday or Thursday afternoons. Knowledge of and experience in basketball are required; willingness to drive a school van preferred (Public Passenger/A Endorsement).   • Field Hockey Coach – fifth/sixth grades

    New Canaan Country School is seeking a field hockey coach for our fifth/sixth grade program during the 2018-19 school year. It is an interscholastic sport, playing against other Fairchester League peer schools. Practices are 11:30 am-12:30 pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday. Once games begin, they will be played on Monday afternoons (and there will not be Monday practices). Knowledge and experience in field hockey is required; willingness to drive a school van preferred (Public Passenger/A Endorsement).
