Cougar D Vexes the Vikings

Another game, another win for our Cougars! Today, we faced off against our neighbors, the King Vikings, in a rematch of our first game back in December. It was a similar story again! This time around, the Cougars grabbed an early lead, but King kept it close for a while. They tightened up their 2-3 zone, making the Cougars work the ball around frequently to find the weak spots. While we found a few, the Cougars' best friend today on offense was our defense, as we generated at least eighteen steals, many of which were turned into fast break opportunities the other way. These quick buckets in transition were our bedrock, and they also provided many free throw opportunities that they boys took advantage of. Today's leading scorer for the Cougars was F Townsend "T" LeConey, who earned 5 of his seven points at the line, shooting 83% on the day. It's T time, baby!

Like last time, the Cougar's slowly built their lead during the first three quarters before blowing the lid open. Even when King tried to play aggressive, trapping defense of their own, the Cougars kept their eyes up and found open slashers for easy buckets to pad the lead. At final whistle, the Cougars led by 23, moving their record up to 6-0.

Huge game next week, as NCCS heads to Greenwich to take on the Brunswick Bruins. The Bruins will certainly be looking for revenge, as last time out NCCS defeated them by only one point in a thrilling win. All I know... next week is gonna be fun! Tuesday @ 3:30 (Brunswick's King Street Campus)... see you there!
