Cougars Cruise to Victory in First Road Test at Ridgefield

It was all Cougars today at Ridgefield, as NCCS rolled to a 36-11 victory in their first road game of the season.

No slow start today for our boys! Right from the opening tip, the Cougars played suffocating defense and crashed the glass with intensity, securing an 11-0 lead after three minutes. G/F Graeson Smith led this early charge, scoring six of his team-high 10 points during this strech with a series of fastbreak layups. In addition, C Colin Buda nailed his first three pointer of the year from the corner and F/C Charlie Smith added another close range bucket. The Cougars continued their defensive blitz right into half time, going into the break with a 26-7 lead. After the break, the Cougars ratcheted down their aggressive defense and worked on sliding their feet and playing good help defense. On the offensive side of the ball, the boys focused on limiting turnovers, swinging the ball cross court, and finding wide open looks. F Will Bria kept the offense humming by both distributing the ball well to the wings when the defense collapsed and hitting a couple open jumpers from the free throw line. However, it was a total team effort today, as everybody contributed points, rebounds, and tenacious defense that led to the final result.

Thanks to those of you who came out to Ridgefield today. Next week, we are back on the road to take on the FCDS Skyhawks. Tuesday @ 3:30. See you all at tip off!
