Strong Second Half Powers St. Lukes over NCCS

Welcome back to football season everybody! It sure felt good being back out there, even though the game didn't go our way. To kick off the season, NCCS White hosted their crosstown rivals, the St. Luke's Storm. St. Luke's got off to a quick start, forcing an interception on the opening drive which they later converted to a nifty toe-tap touchdown on their ensuing offensive possession to go up 6-0. However, behind some excellent flag pulls from LB Charlie Edenbach and a DB Blake Moller interception, the Cougars got the ball back with two minutes to go before halftime. On the first play of the drive, QB Townsend LeConey lofted a beautiful deep crosser to WR Bowen Kelley who hauled in the pass and brought it all the way to the house to tie the game up at 6.

Unfortunately, that would be the end of the scoring for the Cougars, as St. Luke's tightened up their zone and earned a couple key sacks that stalled Cougar drives. St. Luke's also gained steam on offense, and they led two methodical touchdown drives in the second half to put the game away. Final score: St. Luke's 24, NCCS 6.

Looks like we've got plenty to work on in practice this week. NCCS White will hit the playing field again next Tuesday against Bi-Cultural. See you there!
